Collaboration of Genius Minds

If you don't know who the two men mentioned in the above video's title are then you are in the wrong place and the Beiber blogs are Pr0b@bly WhErEd Ud B M0r3 @ h0m3. But if you've got any musical acumen then please, read on past the jump.

Chuck Berry and John Lennon are titans in their own rights. Berry was one of the leading forces in rock music's early days, pioneering a sound that was virtually unheard of at the time. The track Johnny B. Goode about a young man who's only talent seemed to be of the musical variety is a timeless classic that endures to this day. John Lennon was the visionary songwriter for one of the greatest bands of all time, the Beatles. Much like Chuck revolutionized rock, Lennon revolutionized pop, infusing it with over the top harmonies and instrumentation. His most famous work is probably Imagine, of the same titled album that encourages listeners to imagine a world of peace free from the vices and trappings of the selfish violent world.

This particular piece was not for any permanent band or any such thing but rather seemed to be a fun jam for the two legends. Accompanying John was his wife, the ever hated Yoko Ono, out of time, out of rhythm and generally out of her mind.  But Chuck and John put on quite a show, playing well off of one another and even John's solo (John was never known for his guitar savvy) plays at the corner of your lips. That punch in the face voice of Chuck accompanied by John's smoother tones make for an interesting mix. Stay in past the halfway mark to see the band really hit the groove and show you what real music is all about.

This will actually be one of two posts made today. I found this video and had to post about it but I am not so blinded as to have avoided the Superbowl (I predicted the Packers would win, go figure). However I would be utterly neglecting my duty as a connoisseur of music if I didn't take the chance to lampoon the Black Eyed Peas for what was a terrible performance. Full review later today.

  1. Badass performance. This was huge for Lennon, considering Berry was one of his personal heroes.
